You must have completed some basic course in PA to enroll in this class. Learn to confidently use PA with clients whose chief complaint is disruption in mental or emotional function. A little theory, a sprinkle of practical tips, and a lotta wise guidance that will save you time and missteps, and help you get good outcomes for these clients. Supervision for YOUR client cases and Q&A discussion/review sessions round out the course

ACHENA accredited continuing education for 20 hours is available for those who complete this training, complete the post-course survey, and download their certificate.

Confidentiality of Case Materials – Usage Guidelines

Training materials include video and written case information which requires strict confidentiality, just as if you were honoring confidentiality of any person whose case you were taking. The same standard of confidentiality applies for the individual in each of the clinical video cases.  These clients have agreed to have personal experience, and their personal discomforts and suffering used in a teaching context. They deserve the appreciation and respect that this contribution merits.  Your confidentiality is specifically required. Content of these cases must not be discussed outside this platform, except with others in this course, just as a personal details of any case that you took would not be discussed outside of interaction with the person whose case was taken.

Consider how you can best use Tim’s strategy of refining and adding more polar symptoms if you come up with a ‘Vanilla’ chart that does not offer compelling options!

Practice, Practice, Practice – use the PA software for a case every day for the next week!

Polarity Analysis Mental Health Session 5 of 14

During today’s discussion, topics covered include the pre-Freudian world view of Boenninghausen, taking a case for a disease condition rather than for a constitution, and a review of polarities. Thanks to those who shared cases and quandaries!

There was also commentary about the value of seeing the actual case taking, rather than the report and rubric chart. Specifically, Tim’s way of asking questions about the PA rubrics is of interest. We are posting three additional case intakes (from past PA course series) here for you to review. Each client, and the specific complaint, is quite different for the others. Notice how Tim works with each one.

Case Intake: Orena – musculoskeletal pain, Rheumatoid arthritis, on meds.

Case Intake: Beth – Long COVID

Case Intake: Ellen – GI bloating, low motivation. Skip forward to 5 min 25 sec for the start of the case.

In Mike’s Text review and cases, he covered basics-we-all-oughta-know about ADD / ADHD, along with Heiner’s process. With cases from Heiner’s text and his own practice, he highlighted the importance of using PA with the data related to the disease process, not the commonly considered overall state of the person.

Thanks to the homeopaths who shared their case work with the group today! In this clinical supervision session, Tim’s shares guidance about:

  • focusing on the specific complaint (greatest constraint, worst discomfort or more recently emerged) rather than the overall person as we have likely been taught to do in school
  • Rubric selections and remedy differentials
  • Case management considerations

Example Brooke

This is an example of a case taken which clearly is mixing the methods of contemporary and PA. Notice the questions about the experiential state.

Example Client Management

Sometimes people are by nature nonlinear, or their communication style is lengthy. We want to help them participate in the case taking process in a positive way. These examples show you ways and phrases to help a client work with you in gathering PA data.
