Update: Napa ND and COVID in the News

Our National Media Team, led by publicity specialist Kurt Cobb, continues to respond to a July 14th story about the arrest of a naturopathic physician in California for allegedly forging COVID-19 vaccination cards, and providing homeoprophylaxis for COVID-19, using medicines manufactured by a facility not registered with the FDA. (If you make and sell drugs, you are required to register your facility with the FDA.) The case seems to center around the fraudulent cards.
The inital news release identified Juli Mazi, ND, as a homeopath. Paola Brown, president of Americans for Homeopathy Choice, called the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Northern California to request a correction, and got almost instant action once the public relations office understood the mistake. Mazi is now identified as a naturopath in the revised release.
Following this change, other media outlets that ran the story were also requested to revise. Several responded immediately with changes to their stories and headlines. Getting "homeopath" out of the various headlines is a big deal. We hope other publications will follow suit. There have been a handful of new stories about the case. We have successfully contacted three reporters with up-to-date information.
To help us contain this story, we strongly discourage you from sharing via email or social media any news stories related to the case. Don't post. Don't google. That would only spread the negative information! Please trust us on this strategy…allowing this story to die out naturally is the best approach.
